My name is Amberlee Buott. I’ve been cheering for over 20 years, and coaching for 19 years. I believe coaching is an essential ingredient of leadership. A successful team starts with coaches that teach fundamentals, safety, skills, and core values. My passion for this sport started at a young age, and continued to help me grow as not only an athlete but as a person. The life lessons I’ve learned, the unforgettable memories, the lifelong friendships, have helped to shape me into the person I am today. I believe in the growth of this sport, and that each child has very different, and unique qualities to offer and share with their teammates. In my time as a coach I have had national and international winning teams, undefeated seasons, and more importantly, seen hundreds of small victories, from athletes achieving personal goals set in their gyms. Opening a gym has always been a dream of mine, and to have the opportunity to coach with such an amazing staff, owners, parents and athletes is something that I’m being blessed with. We will pride ourselves on creating a positive, fun, and educational environment, and we are beyond excited to grow this Legacy, built on family and love of this incredible sport.
My name is Leanne Shaw. I have 13 years cheer experience, and 10 years coaching experience. One of my greatest passions is seeing athletes reach their personal goals, and becoming a part of a team where lasting friendships are formed. I believe that cheerleading is one of the most incredible sports that exist today. This sport promotes, hard work, dedication, strength, confidence, teamwork, as well as sportsmanship. My commitment to coaching athletes through the years has lead them to national as well as international championships, and too many provincial championships to count. My drive and dedication to developing the skills our athletes need, is fuelled by my love of this sport, and by my love for our athletes. Starting Legacy is by far one of the most exciting opportunities I’ve ever had, and we are so proud of the coaching staff we created. We can’t wait to begin this journey, and to build our own Legacy, family, and lifelong memories.
My name Is Ayjay Colley and I’ve been apart of the NS cheerleading community the past 10 years! I have coached/contracted at almost every gym in the last 2 years at one point or another through my Tumbling Company which i started in 2015, formally known as iTwist iTumble! My business has given me the opportunity to learn a lot as coach being at many gyms in the east coast! I can tumble very well myself which i have always believed makes coaching tumbling just a little be easier! I am pretty much a self taught tumbler! I participated in tumbling classes my 1st year of cheerleading and that was it. I fell in love with flipping and it became my life!
I am now in my 9th season as a level 5 athlete! I have made Team Canada twice since 2013 and I plan to hopefully represent our province and country again this year!!
I am excited to be with Legacy and to Ride the Wave!
My name is Rebecca Richard. I have 10 years of cheerleading experience wherein I have learned and executed every position there is, and 3 years of coaching experience. As an athlete, you learn to know how you want to be coached and what works best for you. Now as a coach myself, I want to pour everything that I have learned from my coaches back into the athletes, pushing them to be the best version of themselves. It is very humbling to hear an athlete say that they look up to you, and that is all I can hope to be for these kids; a mentor that they will remember and cherish for the rest of their lives. Cheerleading has a way of developing your confidence, both in the skills learned as well as the bonds made with one another. Having begun in this sport when I was only 7 years old, I will forever thank cheer and my coaches for moulding me into the woman I am today.
Hi I am Melissa Robertson, I have been involved with cheerleading for 12 years, 7 of which as a coach. I began my coaching career coaching senior teams and In my last 4 years of coaching I was part of an absolutely amazing experience of coaching a special needs cheerleading team. I grew up with a brother with special needs and being able to bring the love of the sport to a wider population and include everyone is something thats gave me great pride! I have recently been asked to join the Legacy Cheer family and bring special needs cheerleading to their club and I am absolutely ecstatic about it! I can’t wait to bring athletes into the gym and watch them grow and develop in ways that are not always available to them. This is truly a passion of mine and I cannot wait to see what the 2018-2019 season has in store!
I started cheerleading 11 years ago and have been in love ever since. I started coaching 8 years ago at the young age of 13. Being a coach has always been very important to me. I am certified level 1 and 2. I have met some of the most important and influential people in my life through cheerleading. These people have taught me so much about myself and this wonderful sport. This will be my first season back after going on a year and a half retirement. I am so excited!! I love my Legacy Family!

I’m committed to growing the sport of cheerleading in Nova Scotia, and to being a part of this amazing program. I decided to join the Legacy staff because each coach is very dedicated to our athletes, and for the athletes to have the best experiences, memories, and life lessons. My name is Emily Cameron. I have been cheerleading for over 12 years. My love for cheer started when I was very young, and because of this amazing sport in my life, I’ve had the opportunity to developed lifelong friendships. I believe that every athlete has the potential to not only achieve, but surpass their goals. I’m so excited to have the opportunity to coach with this program, and to pass on my years of experience to younger athletes. Cheerleading has given me so many gifts through the years. Confidence, and sense of belonging being the most important gifts. I am very excited to be a part of Legacy, and to help our athletes achieve their goals and dreams. My name is Travis Levangie, I have been a cheerleader for 5 seasons and a coach for one. I began my journey in the sport in my final year of high school at Prince Andrew. During my first practice I was unsure with how people would look at me being a male in this sport, and I was really nervous, however none of that mattered once I began stunting. It dawned on me that this was no easy task. I learned quickly that this is a very demanding sport and requires an exceptional amount of dedication and hard work. I fell in love fast, and wanted to continue my path in this community. I branched out from high school, to university and then to my first club team. I learned so much more there and gained so much skill. After a few years away from the sport, and missing my true passion, I knew I needed to return to this community. My story continues with Legacy Cheer Atlantic where I began as an athlete on IO 4.2, and later on was given the opportunity to coach for season one. I love this sport, I enjoy the bonds and athleticism that comes with it, and I hope I can pass on my positivity to my athletes. My goal with Legacy, is to help those who wish to grow their skills, and further develop their love for cheerleading. To teach these kids what it means to be a part of a family, team, and make amazing lifelong memories.
My name is Beki Wilson. I have been cheering for 9 years and have coached 3 previous teams. Cheerleading has helped me to survive hard times in my life, and made me stronger then I thought I ever could be. Whenever I’m upset, my cheer gym is where I crave to be. My amazing previous and present coaches have had a huge impact on me, and that is why I love coaching. I hope to someday have the impact on my athletes that my coaches have had on me. Cheerleading is unlike any sport I have ever participated in. Each athlete has important roles to play, and every individual athlete matters. It teaches you coordination, patience, strength, dedication and great team work. I have never been involved in something that has made me feel so welcome, and confident. Cheer is truly my passion, and I love having the opportunity to pass my knowledge and passion on. My Goal is to represent Legacy in a positive, energetic, and fun way. Teaching our young athletes how to become all they can be, on and off the floor.
